Review by from the police officer suffering from survivor's guilt in "Nothing Man," to the fireman bravely facing his mortality in the title song and "Into the Fire," to the absolutely heartbreaking portrayal of grief in "You're Missing" and "My City of Ruins," "The Rising" puts you in the center /5.

Jun 17,  · Certainly not, nothing can compete with those three initial outings, and yes, there is some filler here, causing me to wonder why Bruce would include those numbers, he certainly knew they were filler, making me feel that the man has intentionally not been giving us a dynamic perfect album for whatever reason.4/5().

First standouts are Mary's Place and the title track, but the soulfulness of Nothing Man and You're Missing, with the uplifting gospel within City of Ruins, Into the Fire, and play-it-loud rock of Further on up the Road, and Countin on a Miracle, and pop of Lonesome Day make this album Classic Springsteen, and it will definitely remain in the car along with another Springsteen album 'Magic' for /5().

7. This was Bruce's comeback album. As a long-time fan, I thought maybe Bruce was done in the 90s (at least as a rocker). But the horrible events of 9/11 brought a rebirth for Springsteen. A terrific album /5(31).
